We then provide a detailed report that is issued to the instructing party within four weeks of instruction. An expert witness, sometimes referred to as a professional witness, is someone that is believed to have knowledge in a specific subject that is in excess if the average person. The knowledge that an expert witness holds is greater than that of the average person that their opinions on the subject may be legally relied upon before the court.

The role of an expert witness is to assist the court through their knowledge and expertise in a subject. With some cases, an expert witness will need to be instructed to provide an opinion that many without the necessary expertise will not be able to form.
The primary duty of an expert is to the court and is not an advocate for any particular party regardless of who they have been instructed by.
